Far too Stylish to Take Off

Exposure from the sun can harm your eyes, causing eye strain, discomfort and headaches. Long term over exposure can even lead to serious medical issues such as cataracts and macular degeneration. The best way to avoid this damage is with a good quality pair of sunglasses… and if you want to be extra fashionable, you can try gradient sunglasses!

Gradient sunglasses are two-tone sunglasses that are darker on one part and lighter on the other. This is helpful for wearing the glasses both indoors and outdoors. The darkest part of the lenses may vary in density to suit individual preferences.

This kind of eyewear is made by adding the substance metal oxide to the lens material. It can be added during creation or may be applied to the surface of the lens. The perfect pair of gradient polarized sunglasses is both fashionable as it is functional.

How Do Gradient Sunglasses Work?

Gradient glasses have two shades — dark and light. They work by limiting the intensity of glares from the sun while still giving you the option to look through a lighter part of the lens.

Glare from bright light can cause eye strain, affect depth perception, and distort your view.

With a polarized lens, an invisible filter is built into the glasses to limit the amount of light that can enter your eyes. The polarization absorbs horizontal light waves but allows vertical light waves through, meaning that the light only travels in one direction. This has the effect of reducing harsh glare. Your vision appears sharper and clearer, and your eyes feel significantly more comfortable. These lenses are perfect for sports. Glare from shiny surfaces such as water is significantly reduced, making them ideal for fishing and other water sports. Our sunglasses frames can be customized with this lens type.

Types of Gradient Sunglasses

There are two different types of gradient sunglasses:

Single gradient lenses. Single gradient lenses are darker on the top and lighter on the bottom. This can cut out glares from the overhead sunlight in the sky while still allowing you to look through the bottom of the lens to see clearly.

Double gradient lenses. Double gradient lenses are darker on top, but they’re also darker on the bottom and are lighter in the middle. These helps cut out glares from both the sun in the sky and the sun’s reflection off the ground, such as from snow or asphalt.

Both options will help to shield your eyes from the sunlight, whether you opt for cat eye sunglasses, round sunglasses, square sunglasses, aviator sunglasses, or something else entirely.
